Schizo Fun Addict - Dream of the Portugal Keeper

Winter, early 90's. Queens, NYC, Jet and Jane Schizo are channel surfing when they come across vintage color footage of a sun rising over a beach, a dog running through waves and a soft female voice flowing, "Dah dah dah dee dah, dah dah dah dee da..." PBS was rolling the opening credits to the classic French Godard cinema, A Man and A Woman. The schizo kids fell fast in love with a side character, not an actor or even a dog, but a style of music. Bossa Nova and Samba.

They invaded flea markets and vinyl record emporiums searching for obscure Bossa Nova imprints and 60's pastel clothing. Rock and roll would never be the same. Dream of the Portugal Keeper invents a fresh genre. Just call it "indie bossa nova shoegaze" and be done with it.

DREAM OF THE PORTUGAL KEEPER precedes Schizo Fun Addict's forthcoming fourth LP, THE SUN YARD, to be released on limited edition sunburst vinyl, 100 copies each individually hand painted by phenomenal Brooklyn artist Todd DiCiurcio. TDC has also played drums with them live and on two tracks for The Atom Spark Hotel LP.

Now go put this on your turntable or Ipod and get busy falling in love.
