Chanty Poe’s ‘Yeahh’ is a heavyweight contender for debut album of the year – if not the decade. Nov 2008 Export: VME Erlend Sellevold is the composer and electronic main man in Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band (Emperor Norton/Rycodisc). Along the years with the Jack Herren Band, there was lots of material and ideas that didn’t quite fit with the RM & TJHB formula. This material was the starting point for the work on the solo-album Ralphorama, but it is far from a collection of leftovers and b-priority material. Quite the opposite! Erlend Sellevold has been working day and night with this album for the last two years, breaking one deadline after another. And Ralphorama has become the essence of what Erlend Sellevold/Ralph Myerz stands for, a tour de force of an album with one masterpiece followed by another! Some of the tracks are style wise quite similar to the two first albums from RM&TJHB: melancholic downbeat-oriented electronica, two of them with vocals from Christine Sandtorv (courtesy of Ephemera). However, the main difference from the RM&TJHB material is in the first part of the album, where the vocalist Erlend Sellevold steps forward: a handful of tracks topped with the great 80’s white-boy-disco-rap-track All Night Long (in a duet with Caro) with tongue-in-cheek references to bands like Indeep and Modern Romance. Then the album does a new surprising turn, when Erlend is joined by a bunch of hot American rappers !: Devin The Dude, Kurupt, Taleb Kweli, Planet Asia, J Wells and others from the crews around Snoop Dog and Ice Cube. In addition we get cool guest appearances from the Jamaican rapper Lexie Lee on We Don’t Play, and the Swedish Norwegian singer Karen Park on Prison Break. Add some extra spice with minimalistic dub and smoke filled beats, and you have the full picture of the Ralphorama treat! Temposhark are set to release their new single “Blame” on April 1st 2008 with a full remix package. “Blame” was co-written with legendary producer Youth from Killing Metronomy has produced a stellar remix of another Temposhark album track “Not That Big’”. Featuring guest vocals of two-time Grammy nominee Imogen Heap, Metronomy has masterfully created this ‘male vs. female’ duet, to create the ultimate anti-love song. With his trademark hooky synth lines and strong beats, it’s already become a favourite with fans and clubbers alike.

Five years can seem like a long time if you’re not enjoying yourself. For Ott, the last five years have flown by in an instant.Skylon carries on where Blumenkraft left off. Still in evidence are the broad, all-encompassing 3d soundscapes of his previous work, the reggae influence still intact, but this time they are tempered by a more measured approach to arrangement and instrumentation. The result is a more spacious and focussed album which fills the room with rich ambience and timeless melody, underpinned by his trademark pin-sharp rhythms and monstrous basslines.
