Temposhark - Blame

Temposhark are set to release their new single “Blame” on April 1st 2008 with a full remix package. “Blame” was co-written with legendary producer Youth from Killing Joke and with an epic pop chorus, it’s one of the highlights on Temposhark’s forthcoming debut album “The Invisible Line” out April 7th 2008.

Metronomy has produced a stellar remix of another Temposhark album track “Not That Big’”. Featuring guest vocals of two-time Grammy nominee Imogen Heap, Metronomy has masterfully created this ‘male vs. female’ duet, to create the ultimate anti-love song. With his trademark hooky synth lines and strong beats, it’s already become a favourite with fans and clubbers alike.

Blame will also be accompanied by Temposhark’s first music video, directed by Japanese animator Motomichi Nakamura.

Temposhark, are made up of Robert Diament on vocals, Luke Busby on synths, Mark Ferguson on bass and Mathis Richet on drums.

St. Vitus Dance - Glypotheque

‘Glypotheque is the second recording by St Vitus Dance. The fact that it makes its appearance a full twenty years after its predecessor, ‘Love Me, Love My Dogma’ may take a little explaining…

In 1987, the Belfast based St Vitus Dance signed to Liverpool indie label Probe Plus. Love me,Love My Dogma’, was released in June of that year to universal acclaim from the music press. The band, emboldened, promptly abandoned what paltry gainful employment they had been engaged in and shifted base to Liverpool soon after.

Just over a year later, a combination of homesickness and crippling penury led to the band’s (entirely amicable) disintegration .

Then at the start of 2005, band members were approached by the organisers of Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter Festival with a view to playing a one off show in May of that year. They began writing and rehearsing songs that have come together on GLYPOTHEQUE.

The songs on GLYPOTHEQUE reflect the passing of time since the release of the band’s debut album. While the band’s mastery of melody and Noel Burke’s love of language remain intact, this is no attempt to recreate past glories for the nostalgia set.

Quotes:

“Where silence is sometimes necessary, there’s still room for celebration in music. And this music has heart, humour and hope.” MELODY MAKER

“Blatant slices of pop pleasure…. There are at least 5 songs on this record that cry out for immediate single release.” HOT PRESS

“This is an album to tug at the strings of your heart and wallet.” LIVERPOOL DAILY POST

Glypotheque will be available on Probe plus from April

Ott - Skylon

Five years can seem like a long time if you’re not enjoying yourself. For Ott, the last five years have flown by in an instant.

Skylon carries on where Blumenkraft left off. Still in evidence are the broad, all-encompassing 3d soundscapes of his previous work, the reggae influence still intact, but this time they are tempered by a more measured approach to arrangement and instrumentation. The result is a more spacious and focussed album which fills the room with rich ambience and timeless melody, underpinned by his trademark pin-sharp rhythms and monstrous basslines.

Ott's album 'skylon' is released on March 3rd 2008 on Twisted Records

The Singles - Start Again

Established in 1999, Vince Frederick set out to form a rock 'n' roll band that would capture the spirit and energy that originated from Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, and all those Rock 'N' Roll legends that came before.

With a DIY attitude, and songwriting that nobody can touch these days, The Singles are back in the studio again recording their 3rd full-length album. The new record will be released late 2007/early 2008 on Sound Artifacts Music.

"My favorite new band is The Singles, who have a very cool Anglo-pop thing happening."

- Little Steven Van Zandt

“British Invasion style melodies, pop hooks galore, and plenty of energy...If you ever wondered what happened to power pop, it's alive and well.” - AllMusic.com (4 out of 5 stars)

Wilburnsilver - This is your life

As a band, Wilburnsilver are hard to define. Rock, Blues, Folk and Indie influences play a major role in producing a sound that is of truly ecclectic proportions. Every track contains a unique characteristic that makes it different, progressive and individual in its own right, which still retains that unexplainable factor that makes it evidently, Wilburnsilver.

Their debut album ‘Looks Like Up To Me’ showcases the bands diversity and natural flair for stylistic song writing and demonstrates their ability to perform at the top of their game.

Drawing on a wide range of influences from 50's blues and rock n' roll, Wilburnsilver aim to remain rooted to sounds and values where music changes, evolves and brings raw energy and inspiration one would hear in the great artistry of Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison and Otis Reading, to name a few.

Their album clearly demonstrates not only the edge, individuality and courage needed to put something out into the musical ether, but also displays the pride and achievement in their best work to date.

A Guy Called Gerald - Proto Acid, The Berlin Sessions 2

Following last year’s first critically acclaimed ‘Proto Acid’ album, the Berlin-based acid house innovator A Guy Called Gerald provides a taster for what to expect from the second instalment. ‘Sweet You’ is an entirely different matter and shows that Gerald is still adept at crafting deep dance floor grooves. As its title suggests, ‘Sweet You’ is a beautifully evocative piece of music that’ll appeal to the heart, head and feet. Don’t miss this opportunity to sample the latest experiments from Gerald’s lab!

A Guy Called Gerald should need no introduction as one of the dance scenes pioneers. The appropriately titled Proto Acid - The Berlin Sessions is an infectious 71-minute set recorded live. “It’s the culmination of a dream I’ve had since I started making music, and that’s to take the studio into the club; this album is snapshot of those possibilities.”

Calvin Party - Godard's Girlfriend

'GODARD’S GIRLFRIEND’ is a record that is cramped full of melody. It might be a moody cantankerous melody, a melody that retains the abrasiveness and edge so important to the bands’ early recordings, but it is a melody that will nag away at you, and ultimately draw you into this record.

Reead - Baby Single

Emerging artist on the electro-pop scene, ‘Reead’ has already won over a number of electronic music people on a national and international level with his first two releases, ‘Rewind’ and ‘Brother. At 26 years old, Reead is ready to conquer the planet with his third release, ‘Baby’

"Baby" has been launched in collaboration with the clothing brand "Energie" which dressed Reead for the promotional photo shoot of the single. With an effective rhythm, this title merges to perfection guitar and keyboard, and is tinted with electro and pop, the style that made him famous in his native France. It has already been selected by the 2008 Miami Winter Music Conference as part of its yearly compilation.

Schizo Fun Addict - Dream of the Portugal Keeper

Winter, early 90's. Queens, NYC, Jet and Jane Schizo are channel surfing when they come across vintage color footage of a sun rising over a beach, a dog running through waves and a soft female voice flowing, "Dah dah dah dee dah, dah dah dah dee da..." PBS was rolling the opening credits to the classic French Godard cinema, A Man and A Woman. The schizo kids fell fast in love with a side character, not an actor or even a dog, but a style of music. Bossa Nova and Samba.

They invaded flea markets and vinyl record emporiums searching for obscure Bossa Nova imprints and 60's pastel clothing. Rock and roll would never be the same. Dream of the Portugal Keeper invents a fresh genre. Just call it "indie bossa nova shoegaze" and be done with it.

DREAM OF THE PORTUGAL KEEPER precedes Schizo Fun Addict's forthcoming fourth LP, THE SUN YARD, to be released on limited edition sunburst vinyl, 100 copies each individually hand painted by phenomenal Brooklyn artist Todd DiCiurcio. TDC has also played drums with them live and on two tracks for The Atom Spark Hotel LP.

Now go put this on your turntable or Ipod and get busy falling in love.

Lifecycle - Pulse

Pulse is the first outing for Ricochet, setting the bar high for all releases this year—the deepest bass, crispest production and deepest grooves possible. A subtle tension develops into frenzied orgasms of distortion; built for big soundsystems and discerning late-night dancefloors.

Ricochet are collaborating with some of the most influential names in modern electro, and Si Begg's abstract remix of Pulse is as moving as it is gritty. The bass is deeper, grooves twisted and attitude focused in this heavy reworking.

Lifecycle - Pulse is released on the 4th February

Superface - State your business e.p.

From Leeds, the city that in recent years has given us Kaiser Chiefs, Corinne Bailey-Rae and The Pigeon Detectives comes another great act; Superface. The sound mixes up big rock noises, heavy funk breakbeats, brooding atmosphere and catchy hooks. Think Hendrix and Ian Brown with a touch of Massive Attack. Tracks from Superface’s debut EP ‘State Your Business’ have been featured on BBC Radio Leeds, www.totalrock.com and Rock Radio FM.

The EP is the brainchild of guitarist and producer Robin Durbin. As a session guitarist Durbin has supported
Jamiroquai, Beverley Knight, Samantha Mumba, and Liberty X. He has worked with vocalist Rhianna Kenny (‘Oh Baby’ ‘Word Love’ LSK, Faithless, Ian Brown), Martha (& the Vandellas) Reeves, Skip ‘Little Axe’ McDonald (Sugarhill Gang, Tackhead) and Leeds’ own Corinne Bailey-Rae.

’The one man behind Superface has the funk, that's for sure. On the evidence of his State Your Business EP he also knows all about big guitar licks, and melodrama’. - The Leeds Guide.
